PKZ-SOL string circuit breaker

The PKZ-SOL string circuit breaker from Eaton’s Moeller series™ provides a fuseless alternative for protection against short-circuit currents. To ensure maximum protection, each PKZ-SOL device is installed inside a customer-specific junction box. An auxiliary contact provides information on the switching status, while the documentation contains a diagram that explains the exact relationship between the tripping current of the protective device and the short-circuit current of the PV

Quickly back to work

String circuit breakers offer a distinct advantage over fuses because they are immediately ready for operation after they have tripped and the cause has been rectified.

Flexible settings

The adjustable trip settings make it possible to fine-tune the devices to the short-circuit current that is actually present at the string. The thermal release will already respond if the current is exceeded by a factor of 1.05 to 1.3, while the magnetic release will trip at 6 times the current.

Enabling direct current technology

Current / OS association

Eaton is a founding member of the Current / OS, which encourages the promotion and adoption of active DC Microgrids based on a set of rules. The foundation will develop an open standard system for DC distribution to improve energy distribution.

The Open Direct Current Alliance was founded in November 2022 and the vision is to build a worldwide direct current ecosystem and establish DC technology across applications. Eaton is one of the founding members of ODCA and is presently chairing the board of ODCA.

DC-INDUSTRIE2

DC-INDUSTRIE2 is a German Government founded project with 39 industry and research partners focusing on efficient integration of renewable energy and energy efficieny in Industry. Eaton provided about 70 semiconductor and hybrid DC breakers up to 400 A rated current for the 10 model applications of the project and has the role of project coordinator.
